TEHRAN -- Niki Karimi’s “Final Whistle”, a movie on social and private life interactions, is an entry to the competition section of the 8th Dubai International Film Festival running from December 7 to 14.

 

Director Karimi and actress Mahdokht Mahdavifar are expected to attend the event, the Persian service of ISNA reported on Wednesday.

“Final Whistle” is about a documentarian couple Sahar and Saman, whose calm life is disrupted. Sahar is informed that one of their cast members faces a death sentence due to a murder charge. She begins to convince the relatives of the decedent to overturn the sentence. 

Her debut “One Night” was also an entry in the previous edition of the Dubai festival in 2008, while she was a member of the jury for the Muhr Asia-Africa Features section of the festival the same year.

Karimi has appeared in over thirty films during the two decades of her career. She made a name for herself as a successful director as well with her debut “One Night”, her second film, “A Few Days Later”, and her third “Final Whistle”.
